Today was bonding night and it was really fun! I was really nervous about it earlier in the day because it’s my first year. So I’ve never been to Bonding Night before and I heard that there is a lot of hugging. I’m not really a person who likes hugging people other than close friends. We gathered in the field and the committee in charge of Bonding Night explained a bit about what was going to happen. Then we all went into the lodge while singing a really pretty song about dancing under the full moon!
Under the full moon light we dance, spirits dance we dance, joining hands we dance, joining souls rejoice
Once we were all in the lodge we were told to find a person we did not know very well and to sit down facing them and close our eyes. Then we made 30 seconds of eye contact with our partner. This was probably my least favorite part. Then we closed our eyes again. Then we had a short conversation without partner about different questions like: who in your life are you proud of? That was probably my favorite part! Then we did the eye contact and questions with two other people.
After that we split into two groups. One group closed their eyes and different people came up and hugged them. The other group were the people giving hugs. Then the groups switched. A lot of people cried during the hugging. Then a lot of people stayed in the lodge and cuddled. But I went to Forest Dell with some friends. We went back to the lodge a bit later and got cookies!
Bonding night was really fun and I’m definitely doing it again if I come back next year.
