i woke up and watched the leaves move outside the open window of the cabin. the cabins here are open wall, and it’s very beautiful to wake up to sunlight through the trees and listen to the sound of them rustling. at night we frequently hear owls.
today was twin day, and instead of having a matching outfit, leon and i switched outfits and personas (and miraculously, we are the same size in everything, including shoes), which was a lot of fun and i got to feel really cool in their giant fur coat.
i’m kitchen junior staff this session, and have been making desserts, chopping a lot of potatoes and cracking a lot of eggs, chopping vegetables, and various other tasks, and there are so many lovely people working in the kitchen and we listen to music and dance and chat and laugh.
today i hosted my workshop on ‘ananke’ (fate or necessity) in ancient greek literature, and a small group of us sat out in the sun in the grass and chatted, and i shared a lot of information and stories. it’s something i love a lot and am always learning about so i enjoyed it a lot.
at night it was trust circle, which is a fairly emotional event of connection and personal identity. after the event i had many beautiful, quiet conversations.
staffing at camp has been equal parts difficult and wonderful, and i feel very grateful to be part of it. it is an experience that cracks open the fragile life you have built, the fragile idea that you have of yourself, and demands you to ask for more, what can you do? who can you become?
