Oxen: Day 2, Vermont ~ NBTSC 2023

this morning i woke up on the porch of the lodge, surrounded by my friends, and woken up by the jr staffer ruben playing their guitar.

i had the pleasure of taking a hot shower after a long cold night in the field. then doing my superhero of checking everyone in for morning meeting. it’s a quick and easy way to memorize everyone’s names.

after meeting we had advisee, where we covid tested! this time, there was no positives! which meant we could go on with our evening event without a hitch. it’s bonding night! a night of bonding through eye contact, conversation prompts, and “unconditional love!” our anonymous hugging portion.

after advisee i did part of my work trade, doing the laundry, then i took on taking care of the staff’s cute lil baby. i absolutely love these jobs and wouldn’t trade them for the world. they’re the sweetest thing, and gave me little to no trouble. but, they were way more of a fan of my friend eddy.

today i hosted my love language and human connection workshop. i explained the love languages, helped others find their needs, then paired them up and asked them questions from my dear friend natalie’s list of questions to fall in love. though, my workshop isn’t about finding romance. it’s just for fun!

then we had dinner, and a rather uneventful evening meeting. i got jacked (turned into a person named jack, by my friend jack,) then we introduced a funny little game to the group!

after that was bonding night! where i was asked very last minute to “spiral” us into the lodge, which is a very specific way to enter this ceremony that i am very good at.

bonding night was an absolutely beautiful display of vulnerability, and i think it helped bring everyone closer together.

i ended the night by falling asleep under the roof of the communal covered sleeping space frida, ready to start anew tomorrow!
