Lily KD: Variety Show, Farm and Wilderness

I woke up in the field, a weird amount of space between me and my fellow field sleepers, more then there was when I went to sleep. everyone had somehow migrated a few feet away from me. it was wetter than the night before, the dew laid a thick layer over us.

I got up, and had breakfast at the picnic table with some friends.

At morning meeting Kilam saw me trying to hold my self up with my arms, and scooted behind me so I could lean on him. I decided to tap Tom on the shoulder and ask if he wanted to lay down to. This caused a domino effect, of everyone joining the pile.

I noticed in advisee I felt a lot better than the day before. I got a lot more sleep last night.

After I ran to get my swimsuit on, and spent awhile down at the lake. The water was cold, but we all decided to pretend it was sooo hot, calling it the hot tub.

I didn’t stay in for too long, deciding to go sit on the other dock, with my towel draped around me, to practice for the variety show.

Me and Sophie were gonna sing Anyone Else But You so I needed to practice playing and singing at the same time (since that wasn’t something I knew how to do yet)

I played by myself for a bit, looking at the fish in the water. and over at everyone laughing on the dock beside me till Sophie and Teagan came and join me, we sang together, and made up silly versions of the lyrics till it was lunch and we had to head up the hill.

I was on lunch serving. so I got to give everyone their food (which is one of my favourite parts of the day). It’s a great way to get to talk to everyone. I love feeling helpful.

Then it was siesta. I was feeling very tired, so I brought my blanket out to the field to take a nap with some friends.

I was out there for about two hours, here’s the order of events.

1st half an hour
I laid down and tried to close my eyes, but there were too many interesting conversations going on around me, so I did in fact not sleep.

2nd half an hour
Me and Syrus laid on Caitlin’s lap. And went around and told stories, because of this I did in fact not sleep.

3rd half an hour
Siesta was over but I was still tired, so we all laid there a little longer. At this point I was definitely the only one trying to sleep.

4th half an hour (the last hour)
As we were laying there, a workshop began. It was walking silly, so as we sit in the grass a crowd of people start circling us, and chanting our names. It was very funny, but once again, I did not sleep.

I want to make it very clear. Should I have gone to my cabin? Yes. Was this all on me? Yes.

After that, I wasn’t feeling good, so I went to my cabin to chill, I wrote a bit and laid down.

After that I felt a bit better, but still very drained.

I headed to the kitchen to serve dinner. Although I was not feeling good but everyone’s “hi Lily!”s really help my mood. When it died down a bit I ate dinner in the kitchen with some of the junior staff, and worktraders. I always have fun in the kitchen.

At evening meeting I started a cuddle puddle.

After, I had a really bad headache so I went down to see the medical moose. I got some ibuprofen.

When the variety show came I was starting to feel a lot better. There was so many acts I loved. Will danced. A bunch of people sang Butch 4 Butch, in memory of Eddie (a camper from past years who couldn’t make it to camp)
Lots of people had original songs that were all amazinggg!!! and close to the end a bunch of us got up and sang Hamilton. The MCs were amazing too. And of course, me and Sophie sang Anyone Else But You. Which has been something I’ve wanted to do at camp for years, and I’m so happy I got to do it with her <3

After, I was walking around talking to people.

I went outside and saw my friends and we sat together and talked for way too long, eventually heading to the loft, where it was warmer, and talked till the cozy lounge closed.

It was raining that night, so we had to figure out where to sleep. instead of sleeping in my cabin (like a normal person) me, Phaedrus, Saskia and Javier decided to sleep under the crab apple tree. it was, you’ll never guess, wet.

Surprisingly I actually slept really well. I was in the middle, with like 5 blankets over me. And the perfect amount of squished.

Over all it was a bit of a hard day. But it’s hard to not have nice moments at camp, so there’s always ups. 🙂
