Eddie: Camp Myrtlewood (Day 5)

Today was really hot. A lot of people went to the creek. I didn’t. I was going to, but I got sidetracked by Elihu’s henna. I’ve been having a lot of fun with it. It’s wonderful how we have learned to decorate ourselves, staining our skins with leaves and ink for thousands and thousands and thousands of years. I think there is something intrinsically human in adorning our bodies with art and jewelry and fine things. Camp is a very healing place for that. There is no judgement. You are safe and free to experiment with your expression. The patterns on my right hand, my clavicle, my back, prove that I am loved. My left hand and my legs prove I am trying to love myself. It cools in the evening.
