Andrias: Camp Myrtlewood, Prom Night (Day 11)

Hi there! My name is Andrias, i’m here to recount how I experienced a day at camp. Day 11, Prom Night! I woke up relatively early, around 7 am, and I just stayed in bed for a couple hours before getting dressed and heading off to the lodge for breakfast. The day was relatively relaxing as I didn’t go to any workshops and just sat in the field writing and planning out the next day. A bit after the workshops ended a lot of people started getting ready for prom in Forest Dell, and the rest were playing ultimate frisbee in the field. We all went through dinner and evening meeting mostly calm, even with the meeting going overtime and causing us to skip grievances.

Waiting for prom took a while, but when we got in they had put up tin foil disco balls, stars and moons, a catwalk and photo shoot area, the music was really loud and everyone was screaming but other than that it was really fun. They set up 2 outdoor spaces for people who need a quieter space, one at the stage with music playing and one on the side porch outside the lodge with yoga mats and pillows. They put out a blackberry lemonade for people and after a while started to bring out star and moon shaped cookies, pretty sure i ate 4-6 cookies in the span of a minute… Prom ended around 12 or 1 and everyone dispersed as they got kicked out of the kitchen or had to be quiet. That’s all i can recount for now!
