Vinny P.: Lake Day, Farm and Wilderness

My Name is Vinny and I spent part of lake day cozy inside the library with Koi, Caitlin, Pippin, and Eitan eating sandwiches. I was scared of the cold and the rain because I didn’t want to get sick… but, after a while there were rumours that the rain stopped. So with a steady heart, and some jackets, Koi, Caitlin, Eitan, and I went to the lake. At that point in the day Phaedrus had already been thrown in the water (as a culminator wish) and was walking on the dock. Ethan was fishing with  GiGi Potato Lucretia.

Because I got there later the two expeditions of boats, one looking for carnivorous plants, and the other was a bunch of vikings looking for lands to conquer, had already left.

Later I learned that Elke named the lands they conquered. CLEANLAND (that floating log over there) and STONELAND (bearpit). The vikings made a mega boat by using a piece of string and physical force. They also “made fun” of the explorers looking for carnivorous plants.

As I walked on the dock, I decided to write some notes for this blog but I really missed the water and only writing about Lake Day instead of experiencing Lake Day felt weird. So I got a life jacket, and a kayak, and I joined the vikings on their second outing to the rope swing.

Getting to the rope swing was a trip. I used a smaller kayak than I should have in the rush to get in the water (and join the rest of the vikings) so maneuvering was difficult. Before I was 10 feet away from the dock, I fell in the water. Luckily the water wasn’t as cold as I thought it would be and the life jacket kept me up. I got back up in the kayak and kept kayaking. The water was semi calm with little waves making little peaks. The trees were multiple colors of green going from dark to light and a little yellow showing signs of fall. The sky was a beautiful bouquet of greys. I was definitely in Vermont. I was able to get across the “treacherous ocean” without capsizing until…

At the rope swing. I brought the kayak to a rocky bank and spilled the water that somehow got in there.  As I got there a little late the vikings were already doing a final call for rope swinging. As I walked up the face of the tall land I waited my turn to jump from the rope swing. When I got to the top of the tall land I grabbed the rope and jumped. I felt like spider-man…it was amazing.

We got back safe and sound (no capsizing) and put the boats, oars, and lifejackets back. Later that day I watched BEAUTIFUL and HILARIOUS movies made by other campers and i had a great conversation at night. <3<3
